Tuesday 14 October 2008, two excellent people and football professionals - Bernd Schuster and Fabio Celestini – showed their excellent qualities again. Surrounded by their friends, the two stars played a golf tournament at the Centro Nacional Emma Villacieros, to the benefit of children.
As befits the category of the participating players and collaborators, the Tournament was a great success.
The tournament was played following the Proam format, with 18 teams, each formed by a professional, a well-known person from the world of football, the mass media or entertainmen, and two VIP guests designated by the sponsors. The start was simultaneous for all participants, and the tournament was played following the official rules of the Spanish Royal Golf Federation.
Sponsors of the event, inter alia, were the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Golf Digest, La Caixa, KA, D´Aguet Geneve, Real Café Bernabéu, Nicol´s, Osiatis, Boomerang, Dispromark and the Golf Professional Association.
After a tightly fought course, the first position trophy was achieved by the team formed by José Manuel Mancebo (professional player), Jerzy Dudek, Ángel Durán and Daniel Nicolás. There were also trophies for the second and third position, and a huge draw for gifts.
However, there is no question that all participants became champions, because they all contributed to a great cause and gave the best stroke in solidarity with and to the benefit of those that most need it: the youngest.
